River Sharks Fall Short at Portland
|
Portland starter Víctor Hernández put a stranglehold on the Austin offense. The right-hander had complete command of his change up in leading the Cards to a 2-1 win. Allan Bader got the save, his 15th in 17 chances. The 4th-place Cards have won 4 in a row.
Had Troy Donaldson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Donaldson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Cards.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Donaldson said.
