River Sharks Win at St Charles, 5-1
|
Austin starter António Rijo put a stranglehold on the St Charles offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the River Sharks to a 5-1 win. In 7.1 innings, Rijo surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. The River Sharks improve their record to 45-51 with the win over St Charles.
The River Sharks got a big at-bat from first baseman Tony Cruz. For the game, Cruz was 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 18th home run of the season gave Austin a 3-1 lead.
"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Cruz after the game.
