Hitmen Top Browns in Extras
|
The St. Louis Browns got a superb performance from pitcher Ramón Ruíz. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Hendersonville. The Hitmen won the game, 8-6. In spite of the loss, Ruíz was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. The win puts the Hitmen at 43-53, while the Browns drop to 62-33.
Ron Glass's hit in the top of the 18th was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a splitter from Martín Ortíz for a run-scoring double. It put Hendersonville in front, 7-6.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Glass told the Hendersonville Chronicle.
