Rebels Bang Out 8-5 Win Versus Maui
|
Tony Long had a big hand in Boston's 8-5 triumph over Maui. He rattled off 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scoring 1 times and knocking in 3 runs. For his performance, Long was named player of the game. Terry Fields got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. Juan Álvarez converted his 1st save in 2 tries.
The Rebels got a big at-bat from left fielder Gabriel Aragón. For the game, Aragón was 1 for 5. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 93rd hit of the season gave Boston a 4-3 lead.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Aragón told the Boston Gazette.
Boston currently is in 4th place in the National League Eastern Division at 43-52.
