|
Pocatello Bellas starter Chris Martin pitched a strong game against the Portland Cards at The Kallipolis, leading the Bellas to a 5-3 win. Martin, now 10-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 3 earned runs. Jaime Espinoza notched his 7th save in 8 chances.
The Bellas got a big at-bat from left fielder Francisco Ibarra. For the game, Ibarra was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 78th hit of the season gave Pocatello a 2-1 lead.
"We played hard and won," said Martin. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
