Irvine right-hander José Crus pitched his team to victory over the Vista Panthers at Stone Brewery Stadium. The final score was 6-2. Crus got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 2 hits and walked 4 over 7 innings. Crus allowed 1 earned run. Raúl Saltines earned the save for Irvine, his 2nd of the year.
Tomás Carranza, who is rated as the 21st best prospect by BNN, aided the Irvine cause with a 2-run double in the top of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder went 1-5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Crus. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
With their winning streak at 5, the Gang Green have raced to a strong start this season.
