Already down in the Divisional Round, the St. Louis Browns put on their best show, beating the Springfield Stars by a final score of 2-1 today. Ramón Ruíz earned player of the game honors, as he threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. St. Louis now trails Springfield 3-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

Víctor Serrano, who is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, aided the St. Louis cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first. For the game, the catcher drew 2 walks in 4 plate appearances.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Serrano told reporters after the game.
