Looters Even With Bruins After Walk-Off Win
|
The New Orleans Looters got a strong game from starter Edward Baker, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Looters took the 4-3 win over the So Cal Bruins in Game 4 of the Divisional Round in a 9th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Baker, who was named player of the game. Baker threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball in the win, which brought the Looters into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.
The Looters were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when right fielder Rubén Vázquez turned a 2-1 fastball from César Menéndez into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave New Orleans a thrilling 4-3 win.
"Both teams played hard," said New Orleans manager Ramón Aragón.
Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Jeffrey King for the So Cal Bruins and Brad Rowland for the the New Orleans Looters.
