The San Francisco Bandits beat the Seattle Pikes, 4-3, at Bay View Park. San Francisco first baseman Alan McGilroy earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Brad Sharpe picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Orlando Ojeda was tagged with the loss. The current losing streak for Seattle has reached 7 games.
McGilroy had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-0 fastball from Orlando Ojeda, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Bandits a 4-3 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for McGilroy.
In comments to the San Francisco Chronicle, McGilroy insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
