Kansas City Bats Go Silent in 3-0 Loss
|
Springfield first baseman Elliott Newell was a significant contributor in his team's 3-0 triumph over the Kansas City Kings. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Springfield. José Valdéz, credited with the save, is now 25 for 27 in save opportunities. The Stars own a robust 63-24 mark.
Newell had a key at-bat for Springfield early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 19th home run of the season and gave Springfield an early 3-0 lead.
"I like our moxie," said Stars manager Tommy Cox.
