Rice Rips Penn State for 5 Hits
|
Seminoles right fielder Bill Rice had his way with Penn State pitching today at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium and mauled them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Nittany Lions ruined his great day by toppling the Seminoles, 13-5.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give Penn State credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Rice did today," Nittany Lions skipper Clancy Blanton said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Bill Rice singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Rice is hitting .241 this year with 2 home runs and 16 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .314, 20 walks and scored 26 times.
