Victory Over Bellas Takes Springfield to 59-19
|
The Springfield Stars knocked off the Pocatello Bellas, 7-4, at Kekambas Park. Derek Davidson, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Springfield won. The right fielder went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times. Springfield reliever John Livingston picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Adrián Martínez was saddled with the loss. José Valdéz converted his 22nd save in 24 tries.
Elliott Newell hit a 2-run double off Adrián Martínez in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Stars in front, 5-4. In addition to the double, Newell had 2 singles, while going 3 for 4.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Newell told the Springfield Bulletin.
Springfield goes to 59-19. The win puts them 16˝ games up in their division.
