Marshals Continue Skid Thanks to Vargas, River Sharks
|
The Austin River Sharks beat the Houston Marshals, 6-1, at Greendale Community Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Enrico Vargas, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Austin reliever Luis Trujillo got the win, raising his record to 3-2. Stanley Inman was tagged with the loss. Bernardo Romero earned his 1st save in 1 chances.
Vargas had a key at-bat for Austin early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and gave Austin an early 2-0 lead.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Houston manager John Leach.
Austin has 5 straight wins, Houston 6 straight losses.
