Well, that's how to end a game in style.
The Bruins had to overcome a fine effort from Baffin Island pitcher Ron Young to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Jersey West at Staples Field. Young went 7 innings and allowed no earned runs. So Cal reliever Masahiko Okada was the winner. His record is now 6-2. The losing pitcher was Beau Brown.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jesús Campos came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Baffin Island pitcher Beau Brown, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting So Cal on top, 3-2.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Jorge Rivera, the So Cal skipper. "This one tested us."
The Bruins bumped their record to 47-31 with this latest triumph.
