Wallace 4-6 in Knights Win
|
The New York Knights beat the Philadelphia Athletics, 11-6, at Edmund Fitzgerald Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Willie Wallace, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4-6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Henny van der Lack, credited with the win, is now 6-1. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 4.2 innings. New York is last in the National League Eastern Division with a record of 61-95.
Nicholas Alston helped out the New York cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the shortstop was 2 for 5 with 2 singles.
"It feels good to get this one," Alston told the New York News.
