Hitmen Lose Again, 8-7, to Cards
|
Hendersonville got a terrific performance from right fielder Tommy Payne, but it wasn't enough to beat the Portland Cards. Portland won the Agent 47 Field contest, 8-7. Payne was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Tim Cameron earned the win for Portland. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 2-8. The current losing streak for Hendersonville has reached 7 games.
Early in the game, catcher Héctor Cruz had a 2-run home run for Portland. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Cards on top, 2-0.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Cruz.
