Loss Extends New York Losing Streak
|
Maui rode a good effort from starter Ronald Cotton to beat the New York Knights at Rainbow Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Cotton went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 12. His record improves to 3-9. Ramón Estrada notched his 10th save in 13 chances.
The Tropics got a big at-bat from center fielder Roberto Gómez. For the game, Gómez went 1 for 2 with 2 walks. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 21st hit of the season gave Maui a 2-1 lead.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Gómez said.
The Knights, at 28-50, have lost 6 in a row.
