The Chicago Machine defeated the Portland Cards, 7-2, in Continental League action at Old Comiskey Park, with Chicago catcher Doug Stephens named player of the game. Ron Martin, the winner, improved to 4-3. He held Portland to 1 earned run on 3 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Aaron Thrash was credited with the save.
