Multi-HR Day for Wiggins as Bruins Overpower Bandits, 5-0
|
The So Cal Bruins defeated the San Francisco Bandits, 5-0, at Jersey West at Staples Field. So Cal catcher Earl Wiggins was named player of the game for his superb performance. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Jeffrey King picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-5. He struck out 12 in 7 innings. So Cal is now 42-28, 2˝ games up in the National League Western Division.
Wiggins had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, when he hit a grand slam. The Bruins went on to win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Wiggins told the So Cal Gazette.
