| Mallards Bland Lost for Year Saturday, August 11th, 2029 The doctors have spoken and Patrick Bland of the Monroe Mallards didn't like what he heard. The 19-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Bland sustained his season-ending injury during the Oceanside Swamp Foxes game yesterday at Swamp Foxes Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Monroe medical staff reported Bland had shoulder inflammation and would be absent from the lineup for at least 6 months.
On his stats sheet this season Bland shows a 1-0 record, 0 starts, 24.1 innings, 20 strikeouts and a 1.11 ERA. | |
