However, it proved to be more severe than first thought. The 17-year-old reliever suffered a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament throwing a pitch in yesterday's game. Team doctors told BNN today that Perchica would miss 8 months of the season. This season Perchica has recorded no saves with a 1-0 record.
