The Maris School Mariners outplayed the Oceanside HS Pirates en route to a 19-9 win, but the standout was first baseman Grant Reynolds. Reynolds netted 5 hits in 5 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line. "Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Pirates manager Ricardo González said in his postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too." Grant Reynolds hit a three-run home run off Ernest Payne in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and hit an RBI single in the 6th.
