 | Bates Picked Best Player Monday, May 1st, 2028 18-year-old Leroy Bates made a few Grand Rapids HS headlines during this past week as the rookie catcher proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and High School NL officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 11 hits in 19 at-bats to put up a .579 average. Bates collected 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and scored 9 runs. This year Bates has hit at a .379 clip with 33 RBIs, 15 home runs and 32 runs scored. |   |
