 | HSNL Outstanding Hitter Award Goes to Barnes Sunday, June 17th, 2029 The best could still be yet to come for Jim Barnes of the Dublin Jerome HS Celtics, and that's the scary part. At the age of only 16, the ace pitcher has accomplished a major feat, being named the 2029 High School NL Outstanding Hitter Award winner. His breakthrough campaign saw him put up a 7-0 record, while pitching 52.2 innings, with 78 strikeouts and 12 walks, for a 1.03 ERA. Barnes was tough on hitters all season long, as they only put up a .183 batting average against him. "I had a lot of fun this season," the young talent said. Emery Cooper of the Overland Park HS Triplets finished second in voting, while Mark Wheeler of the Tulsa HS As finished third. |   |
