The 19-year-old Jayhawks star fashioned a 5-1 won-loss record in 2029 with a 1.44 ERA. In 62.2 innings of work and 11 starts, Velásquez struck out 94 while giving up 39 hits and 14 walks. He held opposing batters to a .176 average. Chuck Sepúlveda of the Virginia Cavaliers finished second in voting, while Robin Richmond of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights finished third. |   |
