 | The SNL (28 & Under)'s Best Player: Manuel Santiago Tuesday, October 16th, 2029 He's only 24 years old, but Manuel Santiago of the Beaumont Roughnecks has clearly established himself as a star of Southern League. His status grew today as the ace pitcher was named the winner of the 2029 Southern League Outstanding Hitter Award. "I just want to pitch well and win games," he said. "The awards are nice though." Santiago's award-winning season saw him put up a 18-12 record through 41 starts, throwing 254 innings. He had 283 strikeouts with 87 walks and a 2.98 ERA. Opponents hit only .236 against him during the season. Weston Chaney of the Memphis Blues finished second in voting, while Roger Rush of the Beaumont Roughnecks finished third. |   |
