| NWL (28 & Under) Awards Best Batter Prize to Rivera Monday, September 10th, 2029 26-year-old Santiago Rivera made a few Balzac headlines during this past week as the rookie first baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Northwest League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 12 hits in 29 at-bats to put up a .414 average. Rivera collected 4 home runs, 7 RBIs and scored 6 runs.
This year Rivera is hitting .336 with 13 home runs and 74 RBIs in 114 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .400 with 44 walks and 78 runs scored. | |
