| PCL's Best Hurler is Béltre Thursday, October 18th, 2029 What does it take to win the Outstanding Pitcher Award?
Just ask Nelson Béltre of the District 9 Prawns -- the latest Pacific Coast League Outstanding Pitcher Award winner.
"My dad always told me to dream big and dream always," he said. "It's not like I shoot for the Outstanding Pitcher Award," he said. "I have big aspirations for what I want to do in this game and what I want to achieve in a long career."
The Prawns pitching ace made some of his dreams come true this year, winning 14 games and losing only 5. In 30 starts, Béltre registered a 3.71 ERA and limited other clubs to a .224 batting average. He fanned 225 in 191.2 innings and issued 92 walks.
Leonard Horton of the District 9 Prawns finished second in voting, while Marty Bradford of the Spokane Trappers finished third. | |
