| Super Swinger -- Long Slams 5 Hits Saturday, September 22nd, 2029 The Trenton Stars stopped the Topeka Tornados by a score of 11-8 at Tornado Alley today, with the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Tony Long. The 23-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Long said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Long did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Tornados.
"Not much that I can say," offered Topeka manager Carlos Pérez. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Tony Long singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jon England in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Thus far this season Long is hitting .391 with 14 home runs, 84 RBIs and 107 runs scored. He has 145 hits in 371 at-bats and has played in 89 games.
