The Springfield Stars racked up a win at Gibson Guitar Park, bumping off the Nashville G-Strings, 4-1. Claudio Martínez, who started for Springfield, pitched effectively for his team. Springfield is off to a hot start at 6-1.
The Stars had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 4-1, Springfield, with no one out. Nashville, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Mike Callahan dug in at the plate, but on a 0-2 slider, he struck out.
