Rocha Socks it to Bulldogs, Cracks 5 Hits
|
It was a good day at Ballpark of Sterling HS. The Jeffersonville-Youngsville Central HS Trojans whipped the Otsego HS Bulldogs 19-18 and second baseman José Rocha showed off a hot bat, going 5-for-8 at the plate.
"Some days, lady luck is on your side," Rocha told BNN reporters after the game.
Trojans manager Tom Green told the beat writers otherwise, calling the 18-year-old "focused and patient."
"It's not luck," he said. "He has a solid approach to hitting. José hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have."
José Rocha singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 9th, grounded out in the 10th and hit an RBI single in the 12th.
Thus far this season in 13 games Rocha is batting .419 with 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has 26 hits in 62 at-bats.
