Victory Pushes Bruins Record to 42-21
|
With catcher Earl Wiggins leading the charge, the So Cal Bruins defeated the New York Knights, 8-4, at Jersey West at Staples Field. Wiggins, who is tied for 6th in the NL in home runs with 14, was 2-2 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The first-place Bruins have a one-game lead in their division.
The Bruins got a big at-bat from designated hitter Rubén Calderón. For the game, Calderón was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave So Cal a 2-0 lead.
"I like our moxie," said Bruins manager Jorge Rivera.
