Stars Score Late to Upend Pikes, 4-3
|
A 3-RBI performance from right fielder Derek Davidson, who is tied for 3rd in the CL in RBI with 53, led the Springfield Stars to a 4-3 win over the Seattle Pikes. Springfield reliever José Valdéz picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-2. Cristián Escobar was collared with the loss. Springfield goes to 44-18. The win puts them 8˝ games up in their division.
The clutch at-bat in the bottom of the ninth belonged to Davidson. Facing Cristián Escobar with runners on 1st and 3rd, the Springfield right fielder had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. Game over, walk-off style!
Davidson attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
