Roberts Goes 5-for-5
|
Colorado catcher Joe Roberts could do no wrong in today's 7-4 win over the Smokin' Guns as he collected 5 hits.
"Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Smokin' Guns skipper Bob Donahue said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts."
Roberts agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game.
"Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
Joe Roberts hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Roberts's current batting average stands at .297 and he has chalked up no home runs and 14 RBIs.
