Multi-HR Game for Borges in 13-9 Win
|
Philadelphia designated hitter Valentín Borges made his presence felt in the 13-9 Athletics triumph over the Orlando Calrissian. Borges slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 5. Even with the win, the Athletics have a dismal 18-37 record.
The Athletics got a big at-bat from first baseman Yasuhiko Onodera. For the game, Onodera was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 2nd hit of the season gave Philadelphia a 10-9 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Onodera said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
