G-Strings Slip Past St. Louis, 7-6
|
Fans who came to Gateway Stadium watched the Nashville G-Strings and the St. Louis Browns fight to the finish.
St. Louis first baseman Jeff Jones had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Jones went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, even as Nashville beat the Browns, 7-6. Jones was named the player of the game despite the loss. Nashville reliever Ramiro Rivera picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Nick Clayton was saddled with the loss.
Rob Grun's hit in the top of the 13th was a game-changer. With no one out, he rapped a fastball from Nick Clayton for a solo home run. It put Nashville in front, 7-6.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Grun told the Nashville Citizen.
Nashville now has a 3-game win streak.
