The skies opened up and the rain fell at Old Comiskey Park.
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Taylor Smith, the New Orleans Looters defeated the Chicago Machine, 10-4. Smith went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Looters. Juan Martínez got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3.
Smith had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the sixth, when he hit a grand slam. The Looters went on to win.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Smith told the New Orleans Bulletin.
The win moves New Orleans to a record of 2-2.
