Tropics Sneak Past Knights, 4-3
|
The Maui Tropics and New York Knights played an exciting game at Rainbow Stadium.
The inspired effort of New York first baseman Marvin Harris was not enough to prevent a 4-3 loss to the Maui Tropics. Harris was 3-4 with 2 home runs. The win was credited to David Bailey in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Sancho Mendoza took the loss. Getting the save was César Rúbio, his 1st.
Had Ximena Campos not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Campos hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Tropics.
New York manager Eduardo Ortíz said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The Knights, at 18-18, have lost 6 straight games.
