Great Stroke: MacNamara Gets 5 Hits | It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Johnny MacNamara, it came around today.
The 24-year-old shortstop scattered hits all over Wrangler Field to pace the Moose Jaw Ghostbusters to a 17-1 victory over the Red Deer Wranglers.
Red Deer skipper Raúl Alvarado told reporters in the press room that "MacNamara deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, MacNamara hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Johnny MacNamara singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Pat Ferson in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 9th and walked in a run in the 9th.
So far this year in 64 games MacNamara is hitting .300 with 6 home runs, 47 RBIs and 42 runs scored. | |
