Red-Hot Vargas Cools Off New York
The New York Knights struggled at the plate today against Beavers hurler Luis Vargas, who shackled them on 8 hits while hurling a complete game 14-0 shutout.

"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Knights skipper Eduardo Ortíz in his postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."

Vargas finished the game with 7 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance.

"He pitched real well," Baffin Island manager Bobby Jones said. "Luis made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."

This year Vargas has gone 1-3 with an ERA of 3.40 and has 34 strikeouts in 45 innings.
