Ishihara Belts Bunch of Base Hits | It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Murai Ishihara today -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at Bill Robinson Field, but the performance lost a little luster when the Cerveceros were downed 7-2 by the Spokane Trappers.
After his glittering performance, the Mexico City second baseman told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat."
His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book.
"I just wish we had added a win in the record book today, too," Ishihara said.
Murai Ishihara singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Riley Johnston in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Ishihara has collected 88 hits for the Cerveceros this year, 19 of them home runs. He has also netted 67 RBIs and scored 55 runs while batting .345. | |
