Rebels Prevail, 5-3, Over Springfield
|
Behind a solid performance from catcher Gerald Burnett, the Boston Rebels defeated the Springfield Stars, 5-3. Burnett was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Rebels. Boston reliever Jesús Suárez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Hyo-chin Ch'oe absorbed the loss. Ramón López finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Burnett had a game-changing single in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-2 cutter from Hyo-chin Ch'oe, he banged a run-scoring single to right-center, giving the Rebels a 4-3 lead. It was the 21st hit of the year for Burnett.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Burnett said after the game.
Losses have been rare for the Stars, who are now 17-7.
