|
Springfield starter José López pitched effectively against the Chicago Machine at Kekambas Park. The left-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. John Drake got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. The Machine fall to 6-14 and continue their lackluster start in 2029.
Derek Davidson, who is a three-time MVP Award winner, aided the Springfield cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder was 3-4 with 2 doubles.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Springfield manager Tommy Cox said.
