Royale with Cheese Lose to Marshals, 5-3
|
Fans who gathered at Hawthrone Grill saw a good contest between the Houston Marshals and Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese.
The Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese got a superb performance from second baseman Javier Espinoza. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Houston. The Marshals won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Espinoza was named the player of the game. He was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Stanley Inman got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. Vinícius Itaquy earned the save for Houston, his 1st.
Had Lewis Barr not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Barr hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Marshals.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Barr.
Houston, now 1-2, is off to a slow start.
