Athletics Get Road Win, 8-1 | The Philadelphia Athletics and starting pitcher George Nelson stifled the San Francisco offense en route to a comfortable 8-1 win at Bay View Park. Nelson, now 9-18, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Even with the win, the Athletics have a dismal 52-99 record.
In the top of the third inning, designated hitter Arturo Molina came through big-time for the Athletics. With Philadelphia leading 3-1, he belted a 2-run home run.
