Bandits Bang Out 6-4 Win Versus Philadelphia | The San Francisco Bandits bested the Philadelphia Athletics, 6-4, at Bay View Park. Chris Austin was named player of the game. He was 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was San Francisco reliever Mitsunari Taguchi, now 7-7. The loser was Dave Huot. The last-place Bandits are now 53-97, the Athletics 51-99.
Austin had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-2 slider from Ernesto Beltrán, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Bandits a 6-4 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Austin.
"Enjoyed this one," Austin told the San Francisco Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
