Carrasco Shines in Knights Win | The New York Knights beat the Orlando Calrissian, 15-4, at Mel Fields. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Pepe Carrasco, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. Tony Meyer, the winner, improved to 6-6. He held the Calrissian to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 5. Steve Poe earned his 3rd save in 7 chances.
One important at-bat for New York came with two out in the top of the ninth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Carrasco hit a 3-run home run, which contributed to the Knights win.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Knights manager Tamotsu Sasaki. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
With the win, the Knights improved to 57-90.
