Rockets Turn Back St. Louis, 5-4 | St. Louis second baseman Carlos Alfaro had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Alfaro was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Nassau beat the Browns, 5-4. Alfaro was named the player of the game despite the loss. Ron Bartlett was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts. Jason Drake earned his 3rd save in 4 chances.
Bill Little chipped in for Nassau with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Little told the Nassau News.
The Rockets bumped their record to 80-60 with this latest triumph.
