G-Strings Lose to Machine, 6-5 | The rain at Gibson Guitar Park did not keep Chicago and Nashville from finishing their game.
Nashville got a terrific performance from shortstop Jorge Flores, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago Machine. Chicago won the Gibson Guitar Park contest, 6-5. Flores was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He scored 3 runs. Chicago reliever Manuel Montoya picked up the win to move to 3-1. Arturo Leal suffered the loss. Víctor Reyes was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 32 of 38 save opportunities.
Pablo Sandoval hit a run-scoring triple off Arturo Leal in the top of the sixth, which put the Machine in front, 5-4. Sandoval had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
Sandoval told a Chicago Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
Chicago is last in the Continental League Eastern Division with a record of 53-83.
