Hawthrone Grill was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese and the Austin River Sharks.

Kalamazoo starter Lorenzo Sánchez pitched effectively against the Austin River Sharks at Hawthrone Grill. The left-hander led his team to a 5-4 win. Kalamazoo reliever Jason Simpson was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Jorge Delgado took the loss.

The Royale with Cheese were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when catcher Zander Tremblett turned a 2-1 fastball from Jorge Delgado into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave Kalamazoo a thrilling 5-4 win.

Tremblett described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.

The River Sharks fall to 5-8 and continue their lackluster start to the 2029 season.
